Tradition preserved and showcased

At the Davos Local History Museum, historic rooms are brought together with artefacts depicting everyday life in the past, traditional crafts and Davos traditions. To showcase selected exhibits, SYMA produced several profiled display cases based on the SYMA-SYSTEM 30.

A particular focus is on historical textiles and garments. Davos traditional costumes, Sunday best for adults and children, as well as examples of traditional handicrafts such as bobbin lace and cross-stitch work, are presented clearly and unobtrusively within the display cases.

The exhibition is complemented by smaller objects from everyday textile life – including children’s clothing, sewing utensils and tools. A tall, profiled display case also provides the ideal space for special exhibits such as christening gowns and associated textile objects.

The understated design plays a particularly important role within the historic building. The slender profiles structure the display surfaces, whilst generous glass panels offer an unobstructed view of the exhibits, allowing the display cases to blend seamlessly into the existing museum architecture.

The project demonstrates how the SYMA-SYSTEM 30 can also be used for bespoke display cabinet solutions in the museum sector – tailored to the space, the exhibit and the presentation requirements.
